Responsible Pregnancy - Core Features

Overview

The Core Features module is mandatory as it provides the foundation for the Responsible Pregnancy mod, by adding pregnancy and parenting interactions, customizable settings, and support systems for your Sims’ journey from pregnancy through early parenthood.

SETTINGS

Access mod settings through the computer to customize your gameplay experience:

SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)

This feature is part of Module 7 – Newborn Complications but can be toggled on or off based on your comfort level. If you prefer not to have this feature in your game, simply disable it in the settings.

Breastfeeding/Bottle Preference

A feature has been added for babies to automatically get assigned a preference for either breastfeeding or bottle feeding. If you prefer to decide this yourself rather than having it auto-assigned, you can disable this feature in the settings.

Diaper Preference

A feature has been added for babies to automatically get assigned a diaper preference (cloth or disposable) at birth. Like the feeding preference, this can be disabled in settings if you want to choose manually.

Parenting Support Interactions

Interactions Between Parents & Significant Others

New social interactions are available for parents and their partners (or significant others in non-nuclear families) that span from pregnancy through the postpartum period. These interactions focus on baby care discussions, parenting and partner encouragement during and after pregnancy.

Outcomes vary based on relationship strength, personality, and circumstances. Sims will receive various buffs and responses based on the outcomes from these conversations.

Put Your Partner on Diaper Duty!

(its the least they can do)

Activate Diaper Duty

Partners can ask each other to take over diaper duty responsibilities. This responsibility applies to babies, infants, and toddlers.

When a Sim accepts diaper duty, they will automatically handle diaper changes whenever diapers are full. They may not be thrilled about it, but they’ll take care of it.

Request to End Diaper Duty

The Sim currently on diaper duty can request to be relieved of their responsibilities. Whether their partner agrees to take over is another matter entirely….

Partner Reactions

This feature spans across ALL modules and is still in active development. Features and interactions may be expanded or refined in future updates.

If a partner witnesses their pregnant Sim engaging in risky behaviour while they are pregnant, they will react emotionally.

This feature spans across ALL modules. Whether your pregnant Sim is drinking alcohol, smoking, eating junk food, doing strenuous exercise, cleaning with harsh chemicals, or handling cat litter, if their partner sees it happen, they will respond.

Partners have access to special interactions to confront their pregnant Sim about risky behaviours.

Note: This is a recent addition to the mod and is still in active development. Features and interactions may be expanded or refined in future updates.

Pregnancy Protection

The Ultimate Achievement

Pregnancy Protection is a special reward for pregnant Sims who maintain impeccable health and safety throughout their entire pregnancy. This is the gold standard of prenatal care and is extremely difficult to achieve.

Requirements

To unlock Pregnancy Protection, your pregnant Sim must:

Reach the highest level in either Healthy Eating (Module 4) or Safe Exercise (Module 5)
Avoid ALL risky behaviors throughout the pregnancy, including:
- Drinking alcohol or fizzy juice (Module 1: Substance Abuse)
- Taking drugs or smoking tobacco (Module 1: Substance Abuse)
- Eating unhealthy foods (Module 4: Healthy Eating)
- Performing strenuous exercises (Module 5: Prenatal Exertion)
- Exposure to harsh chemicals from cleaning products (Module 6: Household Chores)
- Exposure to toxoplasmosis from cat litter (Module 2: Toxoplasmosis Risk)
- Consuming excessive caffeine (Module 3: Caffeine Consumption)
- Any other risky behaviors across installed modules

The system will only evaluate behaviors from modules you have installed. For example, if you don’t have the caffeine module installed, caffeine consumption won’t count against achieving Pregnancy Protection.

Benefits

Sims who achieve Pregnancy Protection receive incredible benefits:

Immunity from pregnancy complications during the remainder of pregnancy
If pregnant sim has previously engaged in risky behaviour but has turned it around any potential risk of your baby being born with a complication will be removed.
Positive childbirth experience
Positive postpartum recovery

It’s not over !

Pregnancy Protection is NOT permanent. If your Sim engages in ANY risky behaviour after achieving this status, they will quickly lose this benefit and all its protections. One mistake can undo all the careful work your Sim put into maintaining a healthy pregnancy.

Pregnancy Tips & Information

Get Tips Via the Computer !

Get Pregnancy Tips – Pregnant Sims can use any computer to access pregnancy tips and information.

Get Healthy Eating Tips (Available if Module 4: Healthy Eating is installed) – Pregnant Sims can research healthy eating recommendations for pregnancy.

Get Safe Exercise Tips (Available if Module 5: Prenatal Exertion is installed) – Pregnant Sims can research safe exercise recommendations for pregnancy.
