How Responsible Pregnancy Mod Works With Lumpinou's RPO Mod
Lumpinou’s Relationship & Pregnancy Overhaul Collection is a modular gameplay mod that expands relationships, pregnancy, fertility, family planning, attraction, jealousy, cheating, adoption, surrogacy, custody, and other related storylines, designed to make romantic and pregnancy gameplay feel more detailed, reactive, and realistic.
Responsible Pregnancy Mod
I integrated Lumpinou’s RPO Collection into Responsible Pregnancy so that pregnancy outcomes and reactions connect more naturally with the wider relationship and pregnancy systems players already have running. Because RPO is one of the most widely used pregnancy mods in the community, making sure my mod works alongside it rather than in a vacuum was a priority from early on.
Pregnancy Protection Achievement
My mod includes a Pregnancy Protection Achievement for pregnant Sims who act responsibly throughout their pregnancy. Achieving this protects them from certain side effects tied to Lumpinou’s mod, including miscarriage, cravings, back pain, and mood swings. The idea behind this is that responsible behaviour should carry meaningful benefits, not just avoid negative outcomes, but actively provide a layer of protection that feels rewarding to work toward.
Miscarriage Integration
Pregnant Sims who carry out irresponsible actions can face one or more of the following consequences depending on which modules you have installed:
- Illness or negative side effects (varies per module: sciatica, pregnancy insomnia, toxoplasmosis, etc.)
- Premature labour, PPROM, placental rupture, or miscarriage (requires Lumpinou’s RPO)
- Their newborn being born with a complication (Module 7)
For miscarriage consequences specifically, my mod relies on Lumpinou’s miscarriage system directly, meaning certain irresponsible actions within Responsible Pregnancy can trigger it, letting pregnancy risks carry through naturally when Lumpinou’s mod is installed. Rather than building a duplicate system, it made more sense to hook into one that already exists and that many players are already familiar with.
I also reduced some miscarriage chances tied to uncomfortable buffs to prevent miscarriage firing too aggressively from systems already being tracked elsewhere. The main example is drunk and high buffs. Since those are already handled separately by my substance module, keeping full miscarriage chances on top of that would mean players are effectively being double-penalised for the same action. The reduction helps keep consequences proportional and gameplay balanced. These adjustments only apply if you have Modules 1, 3, 5, and 6 installed.
Module 1 — Substance Abuse
In Module 1, I use Lumpinou’s pregnancy preference designations, specifically whether a Sim wants children or wants to be pregnant, as part of the logic for how a pregnant Sim feels and reacts when consuming substances. This means the Sim’s existing feelings about their pregnancy can influence how substance-related situations play out within my mod. A Sim who didn’t want to be pregnant in the first place may process certain situations differently than one who did, and tying into Lumpinou’s preference system lets that nuance carry through more naturally rather than treating every pregnant Sim the same way.
Pregnancy Massage Table Mod
I also added support for pregnancy massages to help with the back pain buffs that come from Lumpinou’s mod. Pregnancy-related back pain is one of those details that can feel immersive when it’s there but slightly frustrating if there’s no way to address it in gameplay. Adding massage relief means players have an active way to manage it, and it fits more naturally into the overall pregnancy care loop rather than leaving Sims stuck with a buff they can’t do anything about.
TLDR
- Responsible Sims can earn a Pregnancy Protection Achievement that shields them from Lumpinou’s miscarriage, cravings, back pain, and mood swing systems
- Irresponsible actions can trigger miscarriage via Lumpinou’s system, letting pregnancy risks feel connected across both mods
- Reduced miscarriage chances on some buffs (drunk/high) to avoid double-penalising players, only relevant if you have Modules 1, 3, 5, and 6
- Module 1 uses Lumpinou’s pregnancy feeling preferences to shape how a Sim reacts to substances based on how they feel about their pregnancy
- Pregnancy massages now relieve the back pain buff from Lumpinou’s mod
