Frequently Asked Questions
General FAQs
Are your mods free?
Yes!! All of my mods are free for everyone to download. I also have a Patreon if you’d like to support ongoing development. Patreon supporters get early access to new releases and updates before they’re publicly available, but nothing is ever locked behind a permanent paywall.
Why is the mod not showing up in game?
This usually happens for one of these reasons:
- All of my mods require the Lot51 Core Library, so make sure it’s installed and updated.
- Be sure the files are unzipped before placing them in your Mods folder.
- Keep package and script files no more than one folder deep.
- Script Mods and Custom Content aren’t enabled. Turn both on in Game Options, then restart the game.
- You have multiple versions installed. Remove any older copies before adding the newest version
Is the mod available in my language?
English is always included. Other languages depend on community translations. If a translation is available, it will be included in the download. If not, the mod will appear in English.
If you’d like to request a translation for one of my mods, you can submit a request here: https://kemzimamods.com/translation-submssions-requests/
How can I contribute a translation or correction?
I’m always happy to receive translation help. If you want to fix an existing translation or add a new language, submit it here: https://kemzimamods.com/translation-submssions-requests/
How do I ask for help if I am experiencing an error?
The best place to get support is my Discord server:
https://discord.com/invite/J9JWGzch3E
Please use the dedicated help channel and include:
A clear description of what went wrong, and what you were doing right before it happened
Your
lastException.txtfile (if one was created). You can find it in your main Sims 4 folder (not the Mods folder)
The more details you include upfront, the faster I can help.
What is the CFG settings file?
The CFG file is a configuration file created inside the mod folder. It saves your custom settings for my mods so you do not need to set them again every time you load the game. If you delete this file, the mod will reset to default settings and you will need to set them again.
Can I use older versions of your mods?
It is not recommended. Older versions often stop working after EA patches because core scripts change. They also will not include the latest bug fixes and improvements. If you are having trouble with the latest version, ask for support instead of rolling back.
Responsible Pregnancy FAQs
How do I know if the mod is working?
If the mod is installed correctly, you should start seeing Responsible Pregnancy content during pregnancy through buffs, notifications, interactions, or module-specific effects, depending on what you have installed. Some features appear early, while others only show up later in pregnancy or after a specific trigger.
If you are not seeing anything at all, first make sure the files are installed properly, script mods are enabled in your game settings, and you have deleted localthumbcache after installing or updating the mod.
Why isn’t my Sim getting any pregnancy effects?
Not every pregnancy will play out the same way. Some effects are chance-based, some are tied to certain pregnancy stages, and some only appear if a specific module is installed. That means one Sim may experience several effects while another may have a much quieter pregnancy.
If it feels like nothing is happening at all, double-check that the relevant modules are installed and that another pregnancy-related mod is not overriding the same systems.
How do I access the mod menus and interactions?
Most Responsible Pregnancy interactions are tied to either the pregnant Sim, the active Sim, or a relevant object, depending on the feature. Some options only become available during a certain stage of pregnancy, after a specific event, or when a certain condition is active.
If you are looking for something specific and cannot find it, first check whether that feature is linked to a certain trimester, module, or gameplay trigger.
Do pregnancy choices actually affect the baby’s outcome?
Yes. This is one of the core mechanics of the mod. Decisions made throughout the pregnancy, such as caffeine intake, diet, physical exertion, exposure to toxoplasmosis risks, and household chemical exposure, all contribute to your baby’s health.
Poor choices build up over time and can result in newborn complications after birth. The mod is designed to reflect realistic consequences without feeling overly punishing, so occasional lapses will not necessarily cause harm, but consistent neglect of pregnancy health can have an impact.
How does the mod handle custom pregnancy durations?
The mod includes intensity scaling settings that let you manually adjust effects based on your pregnancy duration settings. Whether you are playing with a shorter or longer pregnancy than the vanilla default, the frequency and pacing of effects will scale accordingly so the experience feels balanced for your setup.
Does this work with PandaSama’s Childbirth Mod, Lumpinou’s RPO, or adeepindigo’s Healthcare Redux?
Yes. Responsible Pregnancy is designed with these mods in mind and has been tested for compatibility with all three.
PandaSama’s Childbirth Mod integrates with the newborn complications system, Lumpinou’s RPO works alongside the relationship and pregnancy tracking mechanics, and adeepindigo’s Healthcare Redux complements the health outcome systems. As always, make sure all mods are up to date for the best experience.
My Sim has a negative moodlet that won’t go away. What should I do?
Some moodlets are meant to expire naturally, but others will remain until the underlying issue has been resolved, the pregnancy has progressed, or the required treatment or action has been taken. In other words, not every negative moodlet is supposed to disappear right away on its own.
If the moodlet seems genuinely stuck after the condition should have ended, delete localthumbcache, reload the game, and test again before reporting it as a bug.
How do newborn complications work, and can they be treated?
Newborn complications are linked to pregnancy outcomes and can appear depending on what happened during the pregnancy. Some complications may be temporary or manageable with treatment, while others may have longer-lasting effects depending on the type of complication involved.
Does the mod affect male pregnancies or only female Sims?
The mod works with all pregnant Sims regardless of gender. Responsible Pregnancy is built around the pregnancy state itself, so if the game recognises a Sim as pregnant, the mod should apply its pregnancy systems accordingly.
This includes male pregnancies enabled by MCCC or other mods. Dialogue and notifications will automatically use gender-appropriate language.
What happens with twins? Do complications apply to both babies?
Yes, twin pregnancies are supported. If a pregnant Sim has made irresponsible choices during pregnancy, it is possible for both babies to be affected and to receive identical newborn complications.
Can I turn off specific effects if they feel too intense?
Yes. There is now an in-game setting that lets you adjust the intensity of Responsible Pregnancy risks and newborn complications separately.
This setting was added after a community request from a player using longer pregnancy and lifespan settings who wanted the pregnancy effects and newborn complication progression to feel less intense. Your settings will be saved in the CFG file created in the mod folder.
Political World FAQs
How do Sims get political traits?
Sims can get political traits either manually or through Module 1, which is the auto assignment of political traits module.
If you have Module 1 installed, the mod can automatically assign political traits to Sims so the world feels politically active without you having to set everyone up by hand. If you do not have Module 1 installed, Sims will only get political traits if you assign them yourself.
So if a Sim does not have a political trait, that does not automatically mean something is broken. It may simply mean that Module 1 is not installed, or that the Sim has not yet been picked up by the auto assignment system.
Can I manually change or remove a Sim’s political trait?
Yes. You can manually add, remove, or swap a Sim’s political trait if you want more control over the story in your save.
That is especially useful if you want a Sim to fit a certain storyline, if you disagree with an automatic assignment, or if you want to shape the political makeup of your world more directly.
The one thing to keep in mind is that if you have Module 1 installed and you completely remove a political trait from a Sim, the mod may later see that Sim as unassigned and give them a political trait again through the auto assignment system. So manual changes are great for directing the story, but removing a trait completely is not always permanent if the auto assignment module is active.
Can Sims change their political beliefs over time?
Yes, if you use the Self Discovery System, Sims can gradually discover a political trait through gameplay rather than only being assigned one manually or through auto assignment.
How does political compatibility affect relationships?
Political compatibility is a separate relationship layer that sits alongside the usual friendship and romance systems. It adds another level to how Sims relate to one another based on their political views.
Sims with similar or closely aligned political traits will generally have an easier time building positive political compatibility. Sims with opposing ideologies may build tension more easily, especially through political discussions, debates, and other ideology based interactions.
That does not mean opposing Sims will automatically hate each other, but it does mean politics can shape the tone of the relationship over time. It is also worth noting that Neutral is the normal starting point. Compatibility usually changes through actual gameplay, so neutral does not mean the feature is broken.
What is the difference between the Fictional and Realistic versions?
The main difference is the presentation rather than the core gameplay. The Fictional version uses original characters and fictional political figures created for the mod world, while the Realistic version uses recognisable real world inspired political figures.
The underlying systems are designed to feel similar, so the choice mostly comes down to the style of gameplay you want. If you prefer a more immersive Sims style world, the Fictional version is usually the better fit. If you want gameplay that feels closer to real life political personalities, the Realistic version may suit you better.
You should only use one version at a time, not both together.
How does the mod decide which trait fits a Sim or world?
The auto assignment system uses two main things: the world the Sim lives in and the personality traits they already have.
Each world has its own general political leaning, so some ideologies are more likely to appear in certain worlds than others. On top of that, the mod looks at traits like Good, Hot Headed, Materialistic, Outgoing, and Loner to help decide which political trait a Sim is most likely to align with.
It is based on probability, not strict rules, so not every Sim in a world will end up with the same ideology. The aim is to make each world feel politically distinct without making every Sim feel the same.
You can see the breakdown of what worlds are aligned to specific world on this page:
How do I remove duplicate gurus?
If you end up with duplicate gurus, use the Remove Duplicate Gurus option included with the mod rather than deleting them manually in Manage Worlds.
That option is there specifically to clean up extra copies while preserving the intended guru system. Each ideology is only supposed to have one proper guru, so the duplicate removal feature is designed to leave one valid version in place and remove the extras.
If duplicates keep appearing after that, make sure you are using the latest version of the mod before reporting it as a bug.
Will gurus respawn if one disappears?
Yes. Gurus are not meant to stay missing forever.
Because each ideology is supposed to have a guru attached to it, the mod is designed to restore or regenerate a missing guru rather than leaving that role permanently empty. They may not reappear instantly, but the intended behaviour is that the system should not leave an ideology without its guru permanently.
If a guru disappears and does not come back after the save has had time to update, that is not really expected gameplay and is worth reporting.
How do Sims get invited to the Illuminati?
The Illuminati invitation is tied to the Political Influence skill. A Sim becomes eligible once they reach level 8 of that skill.
Once they meet that requirement, they can receive a phone call that begins the Illuminati trial storyline. So the invitation is not random from the start of the game, and not every Sim will get it. It is meant to feel like a later stage feature for Sims who have become politically influential enough to attract attention.
If a Sim fails the trial, they are sent home and can get another chance after a few days, as long as they have not been cancelled.
